A UNIQUE LAND IN THE GARROTXA DE L’EMPORDÀ

The vineyards of Mas Ballís are located northwest of the town of Lladó, in Garrotxa de l’Empordà.

Its privileged location, located 273m above sea level, is right at the foot of the first slopes that rise placidly from the Empordà plain towards the foot of the Mare de Déu del Mont peak.

Pine and oak forests accompany the slopes of the slopes, climbing increasingly lushly towards the peaks of the mountains to the northwest. The trees, ravines, ravines and streams end up converging with the cultivated fields, giving the place a distinctive uniqueness compared to the agricultural environment of the Empordà plain.

The vineyards of Mas Ballís are an exceptional balcony that allows you to enjoy the views of Cap de Creus to the north and the entire Gulf of Roses all the way to the Montgrí massif to the south.

The confluence of the marinade from the Gulf of Roses with the cooler air currents that descend from the mountain ranges provides a constant renewal of the atmosphere, with a pleasant sustained breeze even on the hottest days. This combination also favors the passage of the more common precipitations from the northern massifs of Empordà and Garrotxa.

Grenache and Syrah

The Mas Ballís vineyard was planted in April 2018, recovering abandoned agricultural land.[erm] on the edge of the forest mass with a surface area of 1 hectare with the varieties of Grenache and Syrah. The plantation is arranged in three terraces, in a vase formation and oriented northwest-southeast.
On the upper terrace, the Syrah variety is planted on a soil with a loamy texture, with a moderate presence of coarse gravel interwoven with clay and calcareous deposits.

The black garnatxa is distributed in two terraces arranged at the lowest elevations, with a clayey soil texture due to the dominant presence of clay. These are two terraces of deep soils, with a lower presence of calcareous deposits and with high contents of organic matter.

Syrah

On the upper terrace is the Syrah variety, planted on a soil with a loamy texture, with a moderate presence of coarse gravel mixed with clay and calcareous deposits.

The black garnacha is distributed in two terraces located at the lowest elevations, with a clayey soil texture due to the dominant presence of clay. These are two terraces of deep soils, with a lower presence of calcareous deposits and a high content of organic matter.
